SnakeTown Tomorrow!!

It's that time of the month again...and i dont mean we're all being unreasonable and grumpy....it's SnakeTown tomorrow!!

We got a RAD line-up as per usual with SnakeTown Faves Yokozuna headlining.  We love these guys, we've had them before and we'll have them again no doubt.

Yokozuna

Here's what they have to say!
Biographies are for dead peeps so instead heres some things that float our collective boat and paint a wonderful kaleidoscopic picture.... jamming econo, basement punk, bonfires, Kusama Yayoi, things that go vroom, rivers, not driving into dry riverbeds, boats, hello kitty, loud guitars, good peeps, cakes/donuts, sunsets, black and white photography and mastodon. Yokozuna also enjoy a good shoe.
We harbour no illusions of rock star fantasy future lifestyles. Instead we are three guys who have played in various bands for many, many years who would happily only ever be about half as successful as ARCHERS OF LOAF or JACOBS MOUSE or something. We play because we enjoy what we do, we do it because we want to play with bands that we all like, we do it for FUN. Yes we take what we do seriously and try to write the best songs that we can but we also like to think that we also have a sense of humour about what we do. We may be many things but we are most definitely not in this for the money.

Check 'em out here, you wont be disappointed!

The Connectors

These guys.....just....yeah!!

All their facebook says is 'the best rock 'n' roll two-piece in london'...and we'd be inclined to agree!!

Skinny Girl Diet

I'm finding these girls hard to describe, sometimes fierce and shouty, sometimes more chilled, sometimes punky, sometimes rocky but always awesome!! loads of good choons on their soundcloud, check it out here

Cherry but no Cake...

These guys are sick.  We getting them down for saturday.  Muchos exitement!

Listen to their massive tune 'fire' right here!!!

Seeking to satisfy a nostalgic hankering for the glory days of american indie rock music cherry but no cake began. From its infant steps in paris to its channel hopping adolescence in London the idea has always remained the same - to supply a heady mix of visceral passion and provocative humor. The current line up consists of Dom, Mike and Chris, an unwholesome trio of like minded reprobates that pulled themselves together in a north london rehearsal studio. Expect your ears to be pillaged and desecrated like never before...
Description
Stephen Malkmus, Doug Martsch and Shannon Wright having a threesome...while Will Oldham and Steve Albini are filming the orgy! ..

Nymph

We got these guys coming down to play the next SnakeTown after seeing them smash the launch of FakeTV.  They're rad.  Check 'em out.

Heres how they describe themselves....
Formed in late 2011, Nymph are a rock band embracing sounds from hard rock, punk, stoner rock, grunge and post-hardcore. Fully embracing 90’s roots with the lyrical and songwriting traits of heavy music post-2010, Nymph come across as fresh and contemporary with a nod to nostalgia. Memorable vocals and guitar licks that would make Josh Homme proud are yet more reasons why Nymph makes quick work of alternative rock fans.
With a live show so tight it makes a bad PA irrelevant and a level of professionalism that is seldom seem in heavy bands of their ilk, Nymph make a lasting impression upon crowds especially with music fans not normally receptive to loud, abrasive music.
Both first single ‘Stroke’ and b-side ‘Alienation’ are available to stream on Soundcloud right now. Recorded with Rory Bratwell (Test-Icicles) in late 2012 at his famous Lightship Studios, the tracks have received glowing praise online.
NYMPH will be playing at Killing Moon Club at The Monarch in Camden on the 24th of April, at SnakeTown, Catch in Shoreditch on the 27th of April and at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on May 16th with Arrows Of Love and the mighty Throne.

Killing Moon – Track Of The Day (21/03/2013)
“Stroke feels like it could stand toe-to-toe with the slew of heavy indie rockers that have been surfacing of late”
The Peel – First Listen (28/03/2013)
“It's the type of music you'd hear at a sweaty, dark, wordless nightclub. I can see them up on stage, rifling through songs with little to no introduction or explanation needed to separate tracks… enjoy these Brits bringing back some dirty rock”

BITCH PLEASE. (DOG LEGS)

My homey Joey Four put me on to these guys and its capsized my musical mind. Theres something about this song, and it must be shared with the world. Inherent gloom, a funeral flavour, and the lyrics are like something from Jerry Springer, or an introspective game a dice on a street corner in the 90s. I havent even mentioned the other songs, which are equally wicked, but generally a lot more up beat and punky. If i did a"my favourite band of the week', these would be it.

 DOG LEGS. BUY IT.

AEROPLANE FLIES HIGH - LONDON SHOW

I first found AFH on a mix tape a friend made. I say tape, it wasn't a tape. Booked em for a show @ Catch and they drove down from way up north, only to reveal they were they were as well mannered as they were talented.

At this point they only had a few songs online, and i actually thought they had been around years when i heard CONTROL.MP3 (FREE DOWNLOAD) Theres something about jacks voice that makes you think he's been on tour around Europe for the last 20 years, in a very good way... Its pretty brutal sonically, but dam, you need those riffs in your life.

So they came played a show, got their car stuck in an alleyway (see uneventful yet entertaining and informative video here) outside catch, but thats a minor, they then started writing stuff like 'Blossom', and we soon made plans to release a single/video with them.  Happy Happy Joy Joy. Expect it soon.

They are playing a pretty rare, headline London Show on Saturday night, (stage time 10.30 at the The Birds Nest, Deptford/New Cross.

Its so simple, if you like heavy rock, stoner, doom, sludge, whatever, you need to see them. Roanne, on guitar, looking like she's at a picnic, while discerningly unleashing fuzz that sounds as if its being played by some sort of satanic elephant. Jack - a natural front man, the kind you can watch without feeling a sniff of that mutual tension you sometimes experience from the front row of a gig, the guy is a legend in progress. And finally,  to add to that .. Their FUCKING DRUMMER LEWIS >>> Jeez, just watch the Blossom video above. The Kerrangs and Rock Sounds will swallow them up and make them common knowledge soon enough, so try to catch them now while the gigs are still small!
